Over the past five years (to the end of 2019) there had been a steady decline in the activities of the club. Initially this was due to a lack of players but over time it also became difficult to fill the necessary organisational roles needed to run the club. In early 2020 (before the effect of Covid-19 was known) the decision was taken to suspend all activities.

The club has not been formally disbanded. It has been put into hibernation under the stewardship of a local trust who own the cricket ground and the village hall.

In the meantime the ground will still be in use, hired out to local clubs who run more than one team and need a second home venue. It is hoped that with continued activity on the ground, interest may be generated in the village and that in time a Weston Colville team will once again take to the field.
